Fatigue In Warehouse Work

Fatigue In Warehouse Work

Fatigue increases the risk of injury in warehouse work Moving objects are a particular hazard to warehouse workers When something stays still, you know where it is. If it is hazardous, you learn to avoid it. Moving objects can take you by surprise. Here are two particular dangers:

Vehicles: Warehouses are full of vehicles dashing about. Those controlling them need to be alert, especially if other workers are too tired to adequately look out for their own safety. Vehicles include those on the warehouse floor and those coming to drop off or pick up loads. Fatigued drivers, moving around tired workers is an accident waiting to happen.

Robots: Some workers complain their employers treat them like robots. Others have already been replaced by robots. These can be drones flying above your head, small devices scooting around your feet, or robotic arms swinging next to you. Bosses may dream of their factories moving in balletic synergy. Yet when humans fall out of sync with machines, the consequences can be disastrous. Robots do not always allow for human factors such as tiredness or the need to stop and turn around as someone shouts your name.
